A27 Update from MARRA
Hello Fellow Resident
Highways England has confirmed that Vinnetrow Road in Runcton will become a major link to the A27 under their proposals. Under Options 1,2,3 and 3a there will be no right turns at the Whyke junction. This means that all the traffic from Selsey, Sidlesham, and Hunston that currently turns east at the Whyke roundabout will be sent through North Mundham to Vinnetrow Road to access the A27 eastbound. That’s every HGV, tractor, van and car passing the village school. Every parent from Bognor and east Chichester will have to come through North Mundham after dropping off or picking up their child at the Free School, once it has moved to the Convent site. Only a northern by-pass will take the 42% of through traffic away from the current A27 allowing it to be an efficient local link road. There is nothing on offer to local residents from the current Highways England options except queues and local roads being used as rat-runs. A confirmation that they are second class citizens to those who use the A27 to travel east/west past Chichester. Of course residents living in the north of Chichester who suffer none of the noise, air pollution or inconvenience of a jammed A27 want a southern option. SO get your voice heard in the A27 upgrade debate. You need to fill in the consultation forms either in the consultation booklet or https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/H6SMXTN In question 5 tick No Option and then fill in the box below why you want a northern by-pass. Talk to your neighbours about this, have they done their consultation form. MARRA has spare copies so email Roland with details of anyone in our area needing one and we will get one delivered to them. Regards, Roland Higgins on behalf of MARRA
