Every two years an exchange takes place between the villages of Mundham and surrounding villages (Runcton, Merston etc.) and La Lucerne d’Outremer in Normandy. This began over 30 years ago when a link was discovered between the church of St Stephen’s and the Abbaye of La Lucerne, and over the years friendships have developed and new ones have been founded and been nurtured between families in the two villages. Why don’t you come and join us next time – every effort will be made to pair you with a compatible family. Please do not be concerned if your French is rusty or non-existent – the French love to practice their English! We are a mix of families and singles, so all are welcome. In June 2022 twenty of us visited La Lucerne and our very busy itinerary included the Pegasus Memorial Museum at Bénouville and then to Arromanches, (the D-day film in the circular cinema and finally on to the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer: a very moving experience.
Saturday found us at Ville-Dieu-les Pôeles , a medieval foundry and village. Our French hosts entertained us wonderfully in their homes and in 2024 it will be their turn to visit us. So if you like the idea of a long weekend living ‘en famille’ in the Normandy village of La Lucerne d’Outremer, or entertaining a French family /person in your home, or just joining in the entertainment in the village hall, then do contact Jill on 07780918213 or Jenny on 07803418315
In the meantime come and meet us at some of our fundraising events. The next event will be a talk in the Village Centre entitled
