They are responsible for the planned maintenance of the highways and each year they publish a programme of planned works the programme is decided by following the core objectives for highway maintenance and what is achievable with their budget:

Unplanned works have different time scales in completion depending on the safety issues associated with the problem the time scales are 2 hours, 24 hours, 5 days and 28 days depending on the severity and risk identified.
