New County Councillor for North Mundham
County Councillor Simon Oakley was elected as County Councillor for Chichester East on Thursday 2nd May 2013.
Born in St Richards Hospital and grew up in the Witterings, attending East Wittering Primary School then Bishop Luffa. Served 30 years at sea as a Merchant Naval Deck Officer, first working for the Ministry of Defence, then P & O Ferries operating out of Portsmouth. Moved to Tangmere in 1986 when the old airfield complex started to be redeveloped. Having now left the sea, involved in residential property letting, currently Tangmere Cricket Club’s Chairman/Groundsman, an occasional left arm bowler and a member of the Sussex Cricket League’s Umpires Panel. Involved in the management of Tangmere Village Centre and now a Tangmere Parish Councillor.
Simon is also a District Councillor for Tangmere and is on the
- Area Development Management Committee (South), Development Plan Panel and Licensing and Enforcement Committee’s.
